Morning and blogging

im enjoying every moment of this hour; i love morning breeze-including the sunshine! it's good to have my windows behind me-this way every morning i woke up i could see straight my morning sun. and every morning i wake up the first thing that i greet to is the smiling sun *hehe*

i had a couple of restless night..not being able to sleep for two consecutive days in a row..*thats bad*- is killing me. Im not able to think and focus at things if i missed my nights.my eyes are barely open when i talked to people..and they might think im drunk! *shoot* last night when i was invited for a dinner at bf's house, im barely even talked to him, not like my usual self, i talked to bf's parents just a word or two..my eyes are all swollen blue black-like a sick person. *hehehehe*

But i love doing *missing my nights*..it happens when i have lots of things to think of. I want everything to be done perfectly. I want us to be rush but in a perfect condition by then when my big day comes.. not saying rush nuts! u know what i was thinking now..it's like we're trapped in time..in each minute the clock moves, my heartbeat is drumming..lots of things just need to be done..and i realized it's only a month's away. *sigh*

anyway, let's not spoil my morning mood. lets talk about my baking yesterday. not sure what it's called, but ive been wanting to know how to make this dessert-lots of restaurants they serve this as an opening. Never succeeded in finding a recipe for it, till yesterday-yeay! and i from that straight made it *smile*

presenting now..

i cant figure to come out with a nice name for them. lemme think about it and come out with a name later. *grin*
guess im signing off now- need to catch my breakfast..*hmm* what's nice for breakfast?
Well...this is suppose to be the first one in the blog, but you know..no harm saying it now..

"GOOD MORNING!" ................right? *hehehehe*

Many many pies

*argh* Im in a really bad mood today feel like biting someone. My wedding invitations aint right..and my engagement thingy would be on 31 of this january..got to remake all that-means waste time, waste money, waste effort, waste my everything! *argh* damn you stupid chinese characters. you got everybody confused! i aint blaming nobody;well i blamed myself for being careless-wait let me recalled;if it's mistakenly not, i did double..no no triple in fact..of checking the invitation before it has to be passed down to the printing company.I even had it passed to those who can read chinese characters and they were allright about it-well who do i got to blame now?...the situation perhaps..

everything is just so messed up. lots of things to be done before my big day..and im aware that ive yet to handle this and that..
my gowns are still waiting for me to be collected, my albums are yet to be done-realized that whoever in charge of the albums is irresponsible-assuming that they promised me everything can be collected on 11th january..and they were like forever delaying!
I need to rest-my big day is only one month away from now..im hoping everything is settled by then..you've got to be kidding-who doesnt want a perfect smooth wedding? well i do! it will be once in a lifetime, holy molly!

ah! ah! before i continue grumbling about, lemme share what i did yesterday. my many many fruit pies in the evening time.

aight..im signing off now -will be going for dinner at my boyfriend's house in half an hour's time ^^. thinking how nice of his mom to actually cook for me is so sweet-it's always been like that! and not just this once. :)

mango a go go

I woke up this morning with a superb thirst in my throat. It was the funniest feeling ever, that i had a sudden crave for mango sago. I looked around for my ingredients, checking them if i had them here in my list-and yes I managed to dig them out from my kitchen..yeehaa!

..is all what you need. 2 honey sized mangoes, 400ml mango juice, and 80 g sago pearls.

soak sago in water for 30 mins, boil a pot of water, add sago and bring to a boil, turn heat off immediately.cover with lid and let stand for 20 mins and sago shld be cooked by now. Rinse under running water to prevent sago from cooking further & turning starchy. :)

peel the skin off the mango and cubed them nicely. Boil 250ml water & 2-3 tbsp sugar together until sugar dissolved.
pour 1 tbsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp water mixed together, into sugar syrup and stir over low heat to achieve thick & smooth consistency.

Set aside to cool. add mango, mango juice, 125ml evaporated milk into sugar syrup; stir well and finally add cooked sago.

Chill before you serve it cos it is best if it is cold :)

yadda..yadda..it's quite late for a night aight..i will be making something sweet early in the morning tomorrow..cant wait to :)

Sweet sugary balls

so here's the story: i went up to daddy office one day, saw this guy selling sugary balls in front of school; well, daddy's office is just directly opposite school-looking bloody delicious and it got me bought a dozen of them back to daddy's office..
back in the office when i bite into one, i straight reckoned what that was! I've eaten this before;daddy's worker's wife made them for me not too long after i came bck from states..*grin*

I dont know what that really calls;well i suppose it was round and ball-y , with rock sugar dusting on it, I named them "sweet sugary balls" *haha* isnt it creative? to come out with such a lazy name.. *chuckles*

i went up to daddy's worker's wife that evening, asking for a recipe of it;she said it was the easiest thing making sweet balls. made from sweet potato, adding a lil bit of salt and shredded coconut [if you like], shaped them into balls..and you finally fry it..then you got this

it was the best indonesian sweet lil thing ever!well; at least for me! Best served when it's still hot but if you dont, doesnt matter at all cos it still remains delicious. i love having them when i was up to doing nothing, making them in a short period of time, have my evening hot tea time..*arghh* it was the best evening relaxation so far!

The first gift..

Remembered the time not too long ago roughly like bout the fourth month which is in "April", I buzzed myself around in the kitchen to make something and special for my boyfriend and his family..

allright..i wouldnt call that special as in really special...well at least it was an importance of a significant of mine to hold back a memory that cake above right there, was the first gift ever I brought up to them..

im not too sure if bf and family like it or not, but as soon as i went up to their home with this cake packaged nicely everything was arranged neatly laid on my hand, they seemed pleased..was what that matters me most. Im delighted because my time and my making it, was not wasted. *laughs*
I got an evening phone call from his mom telling me the cake is delectable. *smile* not knowing if that's fact or fiction;well, i hope so, at least i was smiling on that day.. had people appreciated my cake and my making it together with the time spent in the kitchen for a whole day, i felt contented..so much contented!

Here's my last piece of picture of my first gift..by the way, it was a vanilla sponge cake with orange jelly layered in the middle.

something simple..

A dear customer once called me asking a price of a normal birthday cake..
when everything was explained clearly, she made an order of a birthday cake with diameter of size 22cm...
having said she didnt want the cake to be too fancy; meaning not looking too pricey and childish-like, she wanted everything to be chocolatey inside out..because the cake was meant to be presented to her beloved best friend *how sweet*

I came out with my simplest design and idea in mind directly.

taa daa.Whats inside was chocolate sponge cake; with the middle of the cake layered with chocolate mousse..
I made the side of cake covered with chocolate around; I suppose the customer doesnt want the cake to look something so crowded, thus came with this idea..

Had my cake delivered to my dear customer, their first reaction when they opened up the box; looking sterned! I was very much afraid they actually did not like the cake that I designed..they gave me a call the next tomorrow evening to actually say thank you for they never see that design of a cake in this local area before; her friend enjoyed having my cake..oh boy what more can I wish for..I got a satisfied customer is all matters. :)

A hint of the past

I compiled a few of my favourite pictures from a week ago to start off the blog. I guess this is where the idea of starting a blog came along, i began taking pictures of yummy looking food with my lil camera and wanted a journal to keep myself on track; see my progress..yadda..yadda. Ill be updating my blog regularly with my daily cooking activities, successful servings and occasional mishaps. so here goes...

that right there...is a lemon buttercream sponge cake...and the pooh together with the tiger and piglet was made out of sugarpaste though not perfectly looking enough; it is the most adorable lil cake ive seen! IMO :)
